U.S. Postal Service Letters to Santa Program

November 27, 2009

WHO:
USPS Letters to Santa Program

WHAT:
The Postal Service began receiving letters to Santa Claus more than 100 years ago. The Little Rock Postmaster is authorized to respond to the letters in the program known as the Letters to Santa Program.

WHEN:
November 27, 2009 ending December 13, 2009

WHERE:
Little Rock Post Office
600 E Capitol Ave.
Little Rock, AR 72202-9998

WHY:
The Letters to Santa Program is a goodwill community gesture for families across the nation during the holiday season. Postal employees may fulfill the request of a child in need, or the child may write directly to the North Pole, for a letter from Santa. This internal process protects children and the integrity of the Postal Service.

Your child may write a letter to the Santa address, with First Class postage on the envelope and include a return addressed envelope to the Letter to Santa Program. A written response will be mailed and delivered to "The Parents/Guardian of" the child. The Post office address will be used in the Return Address in the event the item is undeliverable as addressed or refused; returned items will be destroyed.

HOW TO GET A NORTH POLE POSTMARK:

Customers can obtain the North Pole Postmark on a letter from Santa or on holiday greeting cards. To get a North Pole Postmark, address the envelopes to recipients, with a First-Class stamp and a return address. If you want a letter from Santa; address the letter(s) to Santa and put them into a large envelope, affixed with a First-Class stamp. For quicker service, consider Priority Mail Service or Express Mail Service, and send the package to the NORTH POLE HOLIDAY POSTMARK address just below.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world's mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 26th in the 2008 Fortune 500.
