Special Date meets Zip postmark

CAVE SPRINGS, AR– On Friday, July 27, 2018, the community of Cave Springs will experience an event that occurs only once a century.  It is called “Date Meets ZIP.”  The date of 7-27-18 will match the Cave Springs’ ZIP Code of 72718.  To commemorate this rare occurrence, a special pictorial postmark cancellation will be available all day at the Cave Springs Post Office, 115 E Midway Ave, Cave Springs, AR  72718, during normal business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to12 p.m. and  1 to 4:30 p.m.

The possibility of having a “Date Meets ZIP” is quite rare.  It only comes around once every 100 years and for most post offices, this never occurs at all.

Residents and businesses are invited to bring their own postcards, letters or purchase items with the correct postage applied to the Cave Springs Post Office and have it stamped with the commemorative pictorial postmark to remember this special, once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

To Obtain the Pictorial Postmark:
People may obtain the pictorial postmark in person at the Post Office or may submit a  mail order request to:

DATE MEETS ZIP POSTMARK
Postmaster
115 E Midway Ave
Cave Springs, AR  72718

Pictorial postmarks are available only for the date indicated, and requests must be postmarked by August 27, 2018 -- no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial postmark date, July 27, 2018.

All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail® postage.

Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark.  Such items will be returned un-serviced.

Customers wishing to obtain a postmark should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address as listed above.

Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service will return the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
