Robert J. Hurley will be sworn in as Phoenix’s new Postmaster at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at the Phoenix Main Post Office, 4949 E. Van Buren St.
United States Postal Service Arizona District Manager Lawrence K. James will preside over the installation ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
Hurley most recently served as Postmaster in Mesa. He replaces Alvaro A. Alvarez, who retired earlier this year.
Hurley began his United States Postal Service career in 1981 as a City Carrier in Irvine, CA. Five years later he was promoted to the position of Superintendent, Postal Operations in Santa Ana, CA.
Hurley also has previously held positions as Postmaster of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Manager, Post Office Operations, and Manager, Operations Programs Support. Before moving to Arizona as Mesa’s Postmaster in 2004, Hurley served as Postmaster of Santa Ana.
