YARNELL, AZ — Today (Tuesday, July 9), the Postal Service resumed operations at the Yarnell Post Office, which had been closed since July 1, when the community was evacuated due to the Yarnell Hill Fire. Yarnell's Post Office was spared by the wildfire.
Beginning today, all customers served by the Yarnell Post Office, 2610 Highway 89, may once again pick up their mail and obtain retail services there. Retail hours are weekdays 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. During the wildfire evacuation, Yarnell customers picked up their mail at the Wickenburg Post Office.
On Friday, July 5, mail delivery resumed to all customers in Peeples Valley, who are served by mail routes from the Kirkland Post Office.
Customers whose homes have been impacted by the fire can file a change of address.
Electronic change of addresses can be filed online at moversguide.usps.com or by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS. (1-800-275-8777). Change of Address forms are also available at area Post Offices.
Postal officials advise evacuees to file a change of address even if they are going to be at their current temporary location for a brief time. They will be able to file additional changes as they move to longer term locations.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
