YARNELL, AZ. — The U.S. Postal Service is advising that all area residents forced to evacuate because of the Tenderfoot Fire may pick up their mail at the Wickenburg Post Office, 2029 W. Wickenburg Way, until further notice.

Approximately 600 Yarnell residents normally receive P.O. Box mail delivery at the Yarnell Post Office on Highway 89. Yarnell Postmaster Janice Middleton today said the status of the Post Office building is unknown following Wednesday’s evacuation.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience and apologize for any inconvenience,” Middleton said today.

The Wickenburg Post Office’s hours of service are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Customers are asked to present photo identification to obtain their mail. The Wickenburg Post Office’s phone number is 928-684-2138.

Decisions on future changes to mail delivery will be made and updated after consulting with local emergency managers.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
