MAYER, AZ – Closed for the past three days as a result of the Goodwin Fire evacuation, the Mayer Post Office at 12795 E. Central Ave. reopened today (Friday, June 30), Postmaster Debra Jevitt announced.

“We appreciate all the firefighters’ hard work in protecting our community and also our customers’ patience during the closure,” Jevitt said.

Mayer Post Office’s retail lobby opened at noon Friday. Jevitt said special hours of 9 a.m. to noon will be provided on Saturday, July 1, for customers to pick up mail and packages. Regular retail hours at the Mayer Post Office are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; retail services are not available on weekends. The facility’s P.O. Box lobby is accessible to customers from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The Dewey Post Office continues to remain closed until further notice.

While carriers are making deliveries on their routes in both Mayer and Dewey, there are some areas that continue to be inaccessible. Dewey customers who need to pick up their mail are asked to continue to do so at the Camp Verde Post Office, 403 W. Finnie Flat Rd., Camp Verde AZ 86322.

The Camp Verde Post Office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is offering special hours from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday for Dewey residents to pick up their mail. Customers are asked to present identification to receive their mail.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
