PHOENIX, AZ — In the interest of safety and security, U.S. Postal Service officials will temporarily remove the USPS blue collection boxes in a portion of downtown Phoenix during the Tuesday, Aug. 22, presidential visit. The boxes will be returned to service on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
The blue USPS collection boxes will be removed from the area between Jefferson Street and McDowell Road and from 7th Avenue to 8th Street.
Postal officials advise local customers to make alternative plans to mail outgoing items at impacted locations during this time period.
For additional locations to deposit mail, customers are directed to usps.com and to use Quick Tools to Find Locations on the website. Use the dropdown menu for collection boxes or Post Offices to find alternate locations.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
