ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — In a tradition that dates back to the early days of the U.S. Postal Service, Cecillia Jacobo will be sworn in as Rohnert Park’s next postmaster on Friday, February 13 at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Rohnert Park Main Post Office, 150 Raleys Towne Center.
Jacobo, 44, said a postmaster represents the Postal Service in the communities in which they serve and being selected as postmaster in Rohnert Park is an honor. She said, “As I take the oath of office as postmaster of Rohnert Park I am fully committed to two goals: serving the community and being successful with my employees.”
Jacobo began her postal career in 1986 as a letter carrier in Whittier Calif. She is no stranger to Rohnert Park having served as the acting postmaster for about one year. Previously, Jacobo served as the acting manager of customer service and supervisor of customer service at the Sebastopol Post Office.
Becoming a postmaster is no easy task. It requires a good deal of experience and the gentle hand of a good mentor or two. Jacobo said she was lucky to have two managers that have coached her along her path to postmaster; Manager of Post Office Operations Lito Sajonas and Manager of Post Office Operations Anthony Carvelli.
When not on the job, Jacobo enjoys her children and listening to music and, “having a great time in what ever I do.” She is also active in the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce. She lives in Sebastopol with her husband John, who is the postmaster of Occidental. She has two daughters and two sons. Jacobo attended Rio Hondo Jr. College, where she studied child psychology and business.
Jacobo is responsible for over 21,200 deliveries in both Rohnert Park and Cotati. With 74 employees, she serves 38 carrier routes and 2,300 post office boxes.
The media and public are invited to attend the swearing in ceremony.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
