Mark Stanfield to be Sworn in as Placerville Postmaster

PLACERVILLE, CA—Mark Stanfield will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1850 when Thomas Nugent served as the first Placerville Postmaster. On Friday, October 9, 2009, 8 a.m., Stanfield will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office at the Placerville Post Office, 3045 Sacrament Street, Placerville CA 95667.

Stanfield, 50, started his postal career in 1985 as a city letter carrier in Orangevale. In 1987, he took his first management position as a supervisor of customer services at Orangevale. From 2004 to 2009 he served in a number of officer-in-charge positions at the Folsom and Orangevale post offices.

“As Postmaster, I look forward to being involved in the community and meeting my community’s needs with timely and accurate mail service,” said Stanfield. “In spite of the hard economic times we are facing, I plan to increase our revenue and control costs while still maintaining our mandate for excellent customer service.”

Stanfield and his wife, Jamie, have four children, Ryan, 22, Kyle 20, step sons Chris Grant, 22, and Nicholas Grant, 20. They reside in Folsom. His son, Ryan, is currently a Navy Corpsman serving in Afghanistan, a call to duty of which Stanfield is extremely proud.

Stanfield enjoys outdoor activities, like mountain biking, skiing, golfing and working out. He believes in community participation and coached his sons for 15 years in Select Soccer, Little League, and Folsom Youth Basketball. He volunteers his time with the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce, Folsom Live, Folsom Sober Graduation Night and Folsom Youth Sports.

As Placerville Postmaster, Stanfield oversees 60 employees who process and deliver a daily mail volume of 78,000 pieces to 16, 021 delivery points (addresses) within 13 city routes,15 rural routes and three Contract Delivery Service routes, plus 1, 673 Post Office boxes.

Theresa Hartenstein, Manager Post Office Operations, will administer the oath of office.
