LOS BANOS, CA — Kimi Lonjin will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1873 when Moses Korn was the first Postmaster sworn in as the Los Banos Postmaster. On Friday, October 30, 2009, 11:30 a.m., Lonjin will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office at the Los Banos Post Office, 1135 6th Street, Los Banos CA 93635.
Lonjin, 46, started her postal career in 1986 as a city letter carrier in Turlock. In 2007, she became a supervisor of customer services at the Merced Post Office, the position she held until her promotion as Los Banos Postmaster.
“Being a Postmaster means you become a business partner within the community,” said Lonjin. “It is all about service, and the best way to provide quality service is to meet the needs of our customers in a cost-efficient manner.”
Lonjin and her husband, Alan, have three children, James, Amanda and Mathew, and one granddaughter, Alayna, 2. They reside in Hilmar.
Lonjin believes in community outreach and volunteers as a nursery church coordinator as member of the Hilmar Covenant Church.
As Los Banos Postmaster, Lonjin oversees 31 employees who process and deliver a daily mail volume of 38,000 pieces to 14, 809 delivery points (addresses) over 11 city routes and 5 rural routes, and 1, 482 Post Office boxes.
Mike Mirides, Manager Post Office Operations, will administer the oath of office.
