SAN FRANCISCO — On March 12, 2010, letter carrier units responsible for delivering mail to ZIP Codes 94102, 94103, 94104, 94105, 94111 and 94130 will be moving from the Embarcadero Postal Center (EPC), 226 Harrison St., San Francisco, to either the new carrier facility on Townsend St. or to the Mendell Carrier facility. The move is in anticipation of the eventual closing of the EPC building and to streamline operations for greater efficiency.
“We anticipate a smooth transition to the new facilities without any disruption of service,” said Larry Frost, EPC manager of customer service.
Customers living in the above ZIP Codes should not experience a change in delivery service; however there is one important change that they should be aware of. If a customer receives a notice left slip (PS Form 3849) from the Postal Service, which tells customers that they have a parcel to pick up or mail that requires a signature, they will no longer do so at 226 Harrison St., San Francisco.
Effective March 13, 2010, customers residing in the 94102 and 94130 ZIP Codes who receive a notice to pick up a parcel or sign for mail will do so at the Civic Center Station, 101 Hyde St., San Francisco, CA 94102. Customers residing in the 94103, 94104, 94105 and 94111 ZIP Codes who receive a notice will do so at the new Townsend Street Carrier Annex, 550 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94103.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 26th in the 2008 Fortune 500.
