OAKDALE, CA — Ray Tenorio continues in the long tradition of postmasters who have served the Oakdale community, population 18,628. The Oakdale Post Office, formerly known as Langworth, opened in 1864 and was renamed Oakdale in 1871. On Friday, April 9, 2010, 1 p.m., Tenorio will take the official oath of office as postmaster at the Oakdale Post Office, 170 N. California Ave., Oakdale CA 95361.
Tenorio, 54, began his U.S. Postal Service career in 1980 as a letter carrier in Modesto. In 1994, he became Supervisor, Customer Services. Beginning in 2002, he held several Postmaster positions, first in Patterson, then Merced (2005), followed by Newman (2006) and now in Oakdale.
“The Postal Service is an integral part of the community,” Tenorio said. “It is our responsibility to keep communication flowing from customer to customer, from state to state and around the world. I am challenged to give my customers the best service—which is the service they deserve.”
Tenorio is married to Rosanne. They have two sons, Joshua and Anthony. They also have a granddaughter, Mya. In addition to spending time with his family, Tenorio enjoys making stained glass sculptures, gardening, and golf.
As Oakdale Postmaster, Tenorio oversees 48 employees who process and deliver daily mail volume of 17,858 pieces to 12,390 delivery points (addresses) within 10 city and 12 rural routes. Oakdale has 1,759 Post Offices boxes.
Bobbi Riley, Manager, Post Office Operations, will administer the oath of office.
