LYNWOOD, CA — Mr. Isom Harris IV will take an oath of office to officially become Lynwood’s Postmaster on Friday, April 9, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. He has been in the position since Dec. 5, 2009. The ceremony will take place at the Lynwood Post Office, 11200 Long Beach Blvd., Lynwood, CA 90262.
As postmaster of Lynwood, Mr. Harris will oversee operations that provide mail service to the over 73,000 residents of the City. The Lynwood Post Office has 48 employees and 24 delivery routes. There are currently 14,283 residential deliveries and 1,138 business deliveries made every day in Lynwood. The Lynwood Post Office also delivers to more than 900 Post Office Box customers.
Harris was born in St. Louis, MO, and raised in Pascagoula, MI. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating high school in 1986. He fought in the First Gulf War, as well as being stationed in Africa, England and Japan.
After serving in the military, Harris joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1994 in Fontana, CA, as a letter carrier. He rose through the ranks, serving as supervisor of customer service and officer-in-charge at various facilities.
