SAN RAMON, CA — Martin Nunez will follow a proud tradition dating to 1852 when the first San Ramon Postmaster, Samuel Russell, was installed. On Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10 A.M. Nunez will take the official oath of office at the San Ramon Post Office, 12935 Alcosta Blvd., San Ramon 94583.
Nunez began his postal career in 1986 at age 18 as a letter carrier at the San Lorenzo Post Office. In 1999, he was accepted into the Associate Supervisor Program and became a Customer Service Supervisor at the Hayward Post Office. In 2005, he transferred to Berkeley where he was promoted to Manager Customer Service. He was appointed San Ramon Postmaster on February 13, 2010.
Nunez has a daughter, Amanda Nunez, 24. He lives in San Ramon and enjoys fishing, hunting and playing poker, and traveling to various parts of Mexico.
“My goal as the postmaster of the San Ramon Post Office is to provide the community with the very best postal service that they expect and deserve,” Nunez said. “The most rewarding part of my job is working with a diverse group of employees that continuously strive to be the premier providers of service.”
As San Ramon postmaster, Nunez oversees 143 employees who process and deliver a daily mail volume of 228,186 pieces to 46,230 addresses over 85 city routes. The Post Office also serves 2,486 PO Boxes.
Manager Post Office Operations Cedric Brown will administer the oath of office.
