Marie Arzate to be sworn in as Orinda postmaster

ORINDA, CA — The Bay-Valley District of the U.S. Postal Service today announced that Marie Arzate will be sworn in as the new Orinda Postmaster at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Orinda Post Office, 29 Orinda Way 94563.

Arzate, 47, began her career with the Postal Service in 1988 as a letter carrier in Martinez, CA. In 1999, she was promoted to Supervisor Customer Services in Antioch and held various management assignments until her promotion to Postmaster of Bethel Island in 2007.

“As Postmaster my goal is to provide exceptional customer service, increase revenue and encourage customers to use our products and services for all their mailing needs,” Arzate said.
Yoga, hiking and traveling are Arzate’s hobbies. She has a daughter, Patriz, a granddaughter, Taliah, and a grandson, Aidan.

As Orinda Postmaster, Arzate oversees 36 employees and the daily operation of 17 delivery routes. The Orinda Post Office handles daily mail volume of 46,000 pieces and delivers to 7,192 residences and businesses and 2,012 Post Office boxes.

Rodney Romero, Manager of Post Office Operations, will administer the oath of office.
