Busiest Mailing Days are Dec. 13 and Dec. 20, 2010

Postal Service Open on Sunday in Select Locations

SAN FRANCISCO — Monday, Dec. 20 will be the busiest mailing day with an expected 801 million cards, letters and packages being processed nationwide. Dec. 13 is expected to be nearly as busy. What better way to get a jump on the rush than by mailing your cards, letters and packages early?

The U.S. Postal Service is reminding customers that they have the opportunity to visit several Post Offices in San Francisco that are open for their convenience on Sunday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 19.

The following Post Offices in San Francisco are open on Sundays:

Customers can print postage and mail domestic letters and packages up to posted size limits at any of the above APCs. APCs are as easy to use as an ATM, but without the fees. APCs accept major credit and debit cards — and generate a receipt for payment. All APCs are capable of conducting business in Spanish.

Wednesday, Dec. 22 will be the busiest delivery day. Dec. 15 is expected to be nearly as busy. The Postal Service is expected to process and deliver 15.8 billion letters, cards and packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year (2009), that figure was 16 billion and in 2008, the figure was 19 billion.
