The U.S. Postal Service and National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will hold an event to kick off the 19th Annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Food Drive, at the Hayward Main Post Office, 24438 Santa Clara Street, Hayward, CA 94544, Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 8:15 A.M.
Hayward Mayor Michael Sweeney, representatives for state and federal elected officials, the Salvation Army and the Alameda County Food Bank will join with postal employees in a local effort to support the national drive to collect food to feed America’s hungry. The kick off is intended to raise awareness of the one-day drive to help local food banks replenish their stock needed to feed hungry families in Hayward and Castro Valley.
The 19th Annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Food Drive is May 14, 2011. On that day, residents are asked to leave non-perishable goods for letter carriers to collect during their appointed rounds.
