FORESTVILLE, CA — The U.S. Postal Service named Fred Reese as the new postmaster of Forestville, CA. Reese said he is looking forward to providing the best possible service to the community.
Reese, a 24-year veteran of the Postal Service, said, “I feel the Post Office is one of the cornerstones of the community, and we have to take care of both the community and the employees who serve it.”
Reese joined the Postal Service as a letter sorting machine operator at the Sacramento Mail Processing plant in 1987. Before coming to Forestville, Reese held several customer service positions in the Sacramento District including acting postmaster in Diamond Springs and Sloughhouse.
He credits his first postmaster, Rick Boyer, with being a positive influence on his career. “He instilled in me how the Post Office is bigger than the individual and how working as a team we can provide excellent service,’” Reese said.
In his spare time, Reese said he enjoys motorcycling and is a member of the Elks. He is married to wife Tedi and has one son and one grandson. Reese holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration from California State University, Sacramento.
Reese is responsible for 2,295 deliveries. With 10 employees he serves four carrier routes and 1,200 Post Office boxes. The Forestville Post Office was established in 1872, and Reese is the 15th postmaster to serve the Forestville community.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
