SARATOGA, CA — Kulwinder S. Thandi will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1855 when Levi Millard was appointed Saratoga Postmaster. On Feb. 2, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., Thandi will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office at the Saratoga Post Office, 19630 Allendale Avenue, Saratoga CA 95070. The oath of office will be administered by Post Office Operations Manager Aron Jones, Bay-Valley District.

Thandi began his Postal Service career as a part-time flexible clerk in 2000 in the San Jose District. He was selected to his first management position in 2004 as a supervisor of customer service. This led to other managerial assignments in Morgan Hill in 2007 and Seaside in 2009. He was the Postmaster of Seaside prior to being selected as the Saratoga Postmaster.

"As the Postmaster of Saratoga, it's an honor and privilege to be selected to this important civic position," said Thandi. "I am passionate about striving for excellence and committed to the needs of our postal customers. To that end, I must make sure my employees have the best place to work in order for my customers to know that the Saratoga Post Office is the best place to do business."

Thandi resides in Gilroy with his wife Baljit and their two children, Sonam, 24, and Parminder, 22. He enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and gardening.

As Saratoga Postmaster, Thandi oversees 53 employees who process and deliver daily mail volume of more than 75,000 pieces to 12,167 delivery points (addresses), 22 city delivery routes and four rural routes and 1,689 Post Office boxes, six days a week.
