HALF MOON BAY, CA — The U.S. Postal Service will hold a public meeting to discuss the sale and relocation of the Half Moon Bay Post Office, 500 Stone Pine Road, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019. Postal Officials will be at the Half Moon Bay Post Office Lobby from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, to explain the proposal and answer questions. The public is invited to come by the Post Office during those hours to learn more about the relocation.

The Half Moon Bay Post Office is not closing or being discontinued, it is simply relocating to another space that will represent a right-sizing to current standards of space and operations. All operations from the existing Half Moon Bay Post Office, including P.O. Boxes, will be housed in the replacement facility.

In recent years, the Postal Service has undertaken a number of initiatives to reduce costs and address its financial challenges. As part of those efforts, the Postal Service believes it can reduce costs considerably by liquidating certain high-value properties and relocating operations to facilities that are better suited and the right size. The Half Moon Bay Post Office is about 13,500 square feet, however the Postal Service really only requires a facility that is about 5,000 square feet. The sale of the Half Moon Bay Post Office has been approved and the Postal Service property management office will be looking for a suitable space in which to relocate the retail section.

Members of the public may submit comments for 15 days following the public meeting,  Comments should be postmarked by April 12, 2012 and sent to:
