TUOLUMNE, CA — On Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at 1 p.m., Julie Johnson will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office at the Tuolumne Post Office, 18758 Carter Street, Tuolumne, CA 95379. The oath of office will be administered by Post Office Operations Manager Bobbi Riley.
Johnson began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1999 as a clerk at the Soulsbyville Post Office in the Sacramento Postal District. She was selected to her first management position in 2007 as Postmaster of Soulsbyville.
“As the Postmaster of Tuolumne, I am looking forward to providing our customers with the highest standard of personalized and efficient service,” said Johnson. “I am excited to be coming back to the community of Tuolumne, to serve as Postmaster where my family and I put down roots so many years ago.”
Johnson resides in Tuolumne County in rural Sonora with her husband, Brent. Johnson has three daughters, Kellene Berry, 26, Lindsey Ellis, 24, and Hannah Johnson, 14. When not at work, Johnson enjoys the outdoors, hunting, deep sea fishing, traveling, and spending time with her family. Johnson and her husband are members of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse.
Johnson’s late parents, Kathy and Bill Stanaway owned and operated the local cafe called "The Wild Rose Bakery and Café." Johnson attended the local high school, Summerville High, and was the 1981 Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee Queen, an annual local event with logging activities, parade, queen contest, etc.
As Tuolumne Postmaster, Johnson oversees six employees who process and deliver daily mail volume of more than 3,560 pieces to 980 addresses, two rural delivery routes, and 964 Post Office Boxes, six days a week.
