KING CITY, CA — Linda C. Vasquez will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1935 when Joseph M. Arnold was appointed the first King City Postmaster. On Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., Vasquez will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office at the King City Post Office located at 123 S. 3RD Street King City, CA 93930. The oath of office will be administered by Post Office Operations Manager Darrell Stoke.
Vasquez began her U.S. Postal Service career as a part-time-flexible city letter carrier in 1995 in the San Jose District. She was selected to her first management position in 2005 as Postmaster of San Lucas, the position she held prior to being selected as the King City Postmaster.
“As the Postmaster of King City, I am committed to the needs of my postal customers,” said Vasquez. “I am passionate about striving for excellence, and in order for my customers to know that the King City Post Office is the best place to do business, I must make sure my employees have the best place to work”
Vasquez, 49, has three daughters, Kristeena, 29, Vanessa, 26, and Britany, 22, and one son Joseph, 18. Vasquez resides in Soledad. She enjoys the San Francisco 49ers, the Los Angeles Lakers, camping, and spending time with her family.
As King City Postmaster, Vasquez oversees 13 employees who process and deliver daily mail volume of more than 26,000 pieces to 4,412 delivery points (addresses), five city and four highway contract delivery routes, and 1,933 Post Office boxes, six days a week.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
