SOLEDAD, CA — Patricia Riva will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1896 when William C. Barry was appointed Soledad Postmaster. On Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 10:00 am, Riva will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office at the Soledad Post Office, 150 Kidders Street, Soledad, CA 93960. The oath of office will be administered by Manager Post Office Operations Darrell Stoke.
Riva began her postal career as a part time flexible city letter carrier in 2004 in the San Jose District. She was selected to her first management position in 2007 as Officer-in-Charge of the San Lucas Post Office. This led to other managerial assignments as Postmaster Aromas and as the Office-in-Charge of the Freedom Post Office, the position she held prior to being selected as the Soledad Postmaster.
“As the Postmaster of Soledad, I’m committed to serving the community,” said Riva. “I will continue to uphold the excellent customer service that the employees of the Soledad Post Office have provided over the years.”
Riva resides in Soledad, with her husband Peter LaMacchia, and their three children, August, 10, Autumn, 8, and Laci Jo, 5. She enjoys fishing, horseback riding, HSN shopping, watching football, camping and taking her girls with her to get their nails done.
As Soledad Postmaster, Riva oversees 10 employees who process and deliver a daily mail volume of more than 6,680 pieces to 4,214 delivery points (addresses), 4 city routes, 2 rural routes, 1 Highway contract route and 1,141 Post Office boxes, six days a week.
