ISLETON, CA — Juanita L. Wilson will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1875 when Josiah Pool was appointed Isleton Postmaster. On Friday, April 5, 2013, at noon, Wilson will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office at the Isleton Post Office located at 103 C St.
Isleton, CA 95641. The oath of office will be administered by Manager Post Office Operations Theresa Hartenstein.
Wilson began her U.S. Postal Service career as a city letter carrier in the Sacramento District in 1984. She began her managerial training as an acting supervisor in 2004. In 2007, Wilson completed a 16-week training course as part of the Associate Supervisor Program. After her training, she was selected to her first management position in 2007 as a Supervisor, Customer Service in Stockton, CA. This led other managerial assignments, including as the Officer-in-Charge of the Lockeford Post Office, the position she held prior to being selected as the Isleton Postmaster.
“It has been a life-long dream to be a postmaster of a small community,” said Wilson. “Being a postmaster means to be active in the community I serve, and as an active member I plan to promote all our products and services to help my local businesses grow.”
Wilson, 58, is married to George Wilson and they have one daughter, Angelique, 20. Wilson resides in Stockton and enjoys camping, dancing, traveling and fishing with her husband on the Delta. Wilson and her husband belong to the Central Valley Anglers Club.
As Isleton Postmaster, Wilson also oversees the Ryde and Thornton Post Offices. At Isleton Post Office, Wilson supervises three employees who process and deliver daily mail volume of more than 941 pieces to 582 delivery points (addresses), one rural delivery route and 564 Post Office boxes, six days a week.
