Annette Ashford to be Sworn in as Crockett Postmaster

CROCKETT, CA — Annette Ashford will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1883 when the first Post Office was established in Crockett. On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, 10 a.m., Ashford will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office at the Crockett Post Office, 695 Pomona St., Crockett CA 94525. The oath of office will be administered by Manager Post Office Operations Jack Boster.

Ashford began her postal career as a window clerk at the Byron Post Office in 1997.She started her managerial career path in various managerial positions, including as Officer-in-Charge at the Sunol, Bethel Island and Rio Vista post offices.

“It means a great deal to become a Postmaster and have the opportunity to serve the community of Crockett,” said Ashford. “I am excited about serving the historic community of Crockett and will continue to strive to provide excellent customer service to all my customers.”

Ashford, 52, and her husband, Randy, have two daughters, Lakisha Lockett,35, Markisha, 35, and son, Randy Jr, 33, and 11 grandchildren. They reside in Pittsburg. Ashford enjoys traveling, bowling, camping and fishing.  Ashford believes a Postmaster should be an active member of the community and looks forward to joining the local Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club. She volunteers her time as the Junior Giants baseball coach, and the Boys and Girls club in Pittsburg.

As Crockett Postmaster, Ashford oversees five employees who process and deliver a daily mail volume of more than 4,800 pieces to 1748 delivery points (addresses), on three city routes, and 229 Post Office boxes, six days a week.
