WHITMORE, CA — After 18 years of business, the Whitmore General Store is proud to announce they will become the Sacramento postal district’s second Village Post Office (VPO). The General Store is owned and operated by Jeff and Judy Dresen, and on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 1:30 PM, they will join postal officials in hosting a grand opening celebration at 30560 Whitmore Road, Whitmore, CA 96096.
Located in the Foothills above Redding CA on Highway 44 East, the VPO will offer Forever stamps, prepaid packages and Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and envelopes. What makes it most convenient for customers needing to conduct postal business is the Whitmore General Store almost never closes. It is open year round, 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday and 8 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and Sundays.
“The Village Post Office, or VPO, is a new concept for the U.S. Postal Service and was created to provide service in locations where the community has little or no existing post office,” said Sacramento District Manager Barbara Plunkett. “It gives me great pleasure to be a part of introducing this important service to the community of Whitmore.”
The Whitmore General Store is a great place to shop for groceries and snacks on your way to LaTour State Forest. With easy access from Highway 44, the Whitmore Village Post Office is the perfect place to pick up some stamps, mail your letters, packages, memorable photos and postcards.
VPOs are usually located in established businesses, giving them the added retail advantage of providing customers convenient access to the postal products and services used most often by consumers.
