ALAMEDA, CA — On Friday, March 7, 2014, Danny Sosa will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1854 when the Alameda Post Office was first established. In an 8:30 a.m. ceremony, Sosa will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as Alameda Postmaster at the Alameda Post Office, 2201 Shoreline Drive, Alameda CA 94501. Post Office Operations Manager Jack Boster will administer the official oath of office.

Sosa started his U.S. Postal Service career in 1980 as a mail hander in San Francisco. He moved though the management ranks as an acting supervisor and officer-in-charge at the Brentwood, Moraga, Lafayette and Orinda Post Offices prior to his selection as the Alameda Postmaster.

“It all starts with leadership,” said Sosa. “With the right leadership and mentoring of employees, everything else follows. Meeting all the customer service expectations then becomes business as usual.” Sosa sees working with Alameda business customers as a top priority.

Sosa, 49, and his wife, Dori, have three children, Juan, 29, Brigette, 21, and Jordin, 15. They reside in Antioch.

As Alameda Postmaster, Sosa oversees 108 employees who process and deliver daily mail volume of 105,850 pieces to 55,409 delivery points (addresses) on 54 city delivery routes and to 3,958 Post Office boxes.
