REDDING, CA — Customers in Shasta County will soon have two additional locations to purchase Forever stamps and prepaid Priority Mail envelopes.   Drive In Market in Shasta Lake City and Gott Country Store in Cottonwood are two of the newest businesses to include Village Post Office (VPO) to their list of services.

Both VPOs will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Drive In Market at 13719 Hill Blvd, Shasta Lake, CA, 96089 will have an 11:30am ceremony.  Gott Country Store, 18371 Bowman Rd, Cottonwood CA, 96022 will have their ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:30pm.  Both businesses welcome their customers to the ceremonies.

Drive In Market has been owned and operated by Mike and Jyotsna Patel since 1978 when they moved to Shasta Lake from Southern California.   The Patel’s refer to their store as the local meeting place to catch up with neighbors, just like a small-town Post Office. The Patel’s are active in the local Sikh community and sponsor the local swim and little league teams.  Drive In Market has been selling postage since it first opened for business.  Now as a VPO, they can offer additional services to their Shasta Lake customers.

Gott Country Store has been a part of the Cottonwood community for over 30 years.  When Lynna Gott found out the store she and her brother, John, used to visit as children was for sale, she decided it was time to come home and start a business in Cottonwood.  The store has expanded over the years, now including a deli and soon to become a gas station.  A restaurant is due to open later this year.  Gott feels that with the addition of the services offered as a Village Post Office, it adds “one more convenience to the people we serve”.

Shasta County attracts tourists and outdoor enthusiasts to Shasta Lake, Mount Lassen and many hiking and biking trails.  The Drive In Market and Gott Country Store have always been the perfect stop for supplies and snacks.  Now, they will also be the perfect stops to buy stamps, mail postcards and packages.

Village Post Offices are usually located in established businesses, giving them the added retail advantage of providing customers convenient access to the postal products.
