REDWOOD VALLEY, CA — Scott Butler has been selected as the Postmaster of Redwood Valley, CA.

Butler said he is excited and honored to have been selected as the Redwood Valley Postmaster. “The Redwood Valley Post Office employees and I are dedicated to providing exceptional service to this wonderful community,” he said.

Butler began his Postal Service career in 2000 as a part-time flexible clerk at the Laytonville Post Office. He became the Postmaster of Laytonville in 2004. In 2005 Butler was selected as the Postmaster in Redwood Valley. During his time in Redwood Valley, Butler assisted as supervisor in Cloverdale and held several positions of increasing responsibility, including an assignment as the officer in charge of the Healdsburg Post Office for a year. Subsequently, he was selected as the Postmaster of Lakeport in 2011.

“Since beginning my career, I have been given many opportunities that have led to my selection as a postmaster,” Butler said. “It will be so nice being back in the Redwood Valley community, seeing familiar faces and reconnecting with the customers.”

As the Postmaster of Redwood Valley, Butler oversees two employees and is responsible for retail services and 900 P.O. Boxes. He still finds time to coach local youth sports within the community.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
