Coulterville is a registered historical landmark and was founded as a mining town in 1850. There are a few remaining mines in operation. Coulterville hosts the John Muir Geotourism Center and the Coulterville Coyotefest. During the summer months, old west shootouts are staged in front of the Historic Jeffrey Hotel which was built in 1851. With the opening of the Coulterville VPO, tourists and locals will have another location to mail packages filled with souvenirs, photos and memories.
VPOs are usually located in established businesses, giving them the added retail advantage of providing customers convenient access to the Postal Service products and services used most often by consumers.# # #
