U.S. Postal Service Opens Mega Passport Acceptance Office in Santa Clarita

Expanded hours and full range of services makes it easy and convenient to apply for a passport

SANTA CLARITA — On May 31, 2014, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will open a new 2,000 square foot Mega Passport Office at the Castaic Branch Post Office, located at the Santa Clarita Processing and Distribution Center, 28201 Franklin Parkway in Santa Clarita. This new unit will have additional staffing and expanded hours to make it easy and convenient to apply for a U.S. passport.

There will be no appointment required at this facility. Walk-in hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be closed on Sunday and Monday. The new USPS Mega Passport Office serves the Santa Clarita Valley and San Fernando Valley areas of Los Angeles County, including Sylmar, Pacoima, Sun Valley, San Fernando, Lancaster and Palmdale.   

The Postal Service has the products and services needed to submit a new passport or renewal application. Services for a fee at this new Mega Passport Office include passport photos taken onsite, passport application acceptance and photocopy service. Expedited processing is also available, including Priority Mail Express delivery of the passport, with tracking and insurance.  

The U.S. Department of State issued 13.5 million passports and passport cards last year. It’s best to apply for your passport early, at least several months before a planned trip.
