TURLOCK, CA — Residents of Turlock now have two new Village Post Offices (VPO) to conduct their U.S. Postal Service business. The community is invited to celebrate both grand openings on Friday, June 20, 2014.
The first ribbon-cutting ceremony is at the Wayside Market, 735 Wayside Drive, at 10:30 a.m. The second ceremony is at the Amar Fashion and Grocery Bazaar at 11:30 a.m. at 1081 Lander Avenue. Both locations are in Turlock CA 95380.
Village Post Offices (VPOs) are usually located in established businesses, giving them the added retail advantage of providing customers convenient access to the Postal Service products and services they use most often. There are more than 600 VPOs nationwide that help enhance local businesses. Customers are able to purchase Forever Stamps, drop off prepaid mail and packages and pick up free Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and envelopes. The convenience for customers is that many VPOs offer expanded business hours, including Sundays and holidays.
Amarjit and Mamta Singh are the owners of Amar Fashion and Grocery Bazaar. They are very active in their community and view the opening of their VPO as a “great opportunity to help the community and to assist with the sustainability of the Postal Service.”
Dale Shahi, owner of Wayside Market, has been in business for over 14 years. He is looking forward to serving the community with one-stop shopping convenience.
Sacramento District Post Office Operations Manager Jagdeep Grewal and Turlock Postmaster Jasminder Kaur will join the business owners in the grand opening ceremonies.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
