SACRAMENTO, CA — Customers shopping for greeting cards at Peradice Cards and Gifts can now purchase stamps and mail them before they leave the store when it becomes a Village Post Office (VPO). To celebrate the store becoming a VPO, the community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Peradice Cards and Gifts, 918 24th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.
Located in the Boulevard Park district, the store compliments the historic residential neighborhood in midtown Sacramento. Store proprietor Jim Wagner believes the VPO will allow him to better serve his community and is pleased that his Peradice store will be another alternative access for postage stamps and U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate packaging for his neighborhood customers. “It's another piece of the puzzle to customers who frequent Peradice Cards & Gifts and for the entire Midtown/Boulevard Park Community,” said Wagner.
Village Post Offices (VPOs) are usually located in established businesses, giving them the added retail advantage of providing customers convenient access to the Postal Service products and services they use most often.
There are close to 700 VPOs nationwide that help enhance local businesses. Customers are able to purchase Forever Stamps, drop off prepaid mail and packages and pick up free Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and envelopes. The convenience for customers is that many VPOs offer expanded business hours, including Sundays and holidays.
Sacramento Postal District Manager Barbara Plunkett and Karen Manley, manager of customer service operations for the Sacramento Post Office, will join Wagner in the grand opening ceremonies.
