MACDOEL, CA — When customers come in for gas at MacDoel Shell at 41501 S. Hwy 97, Macdoel, CA 96058, they can now fill up with postage and U.S. Postal Service products as well. On Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., customers are welcome to join owner Jeff Chase and Postal Service officials in a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the gas station becomes a Village Post Office (VPO).
Chase is excited to offer the community an alternative access to purchase Forever stamps and Priority Mail Flat Rate postage in Butte Valley. His gas station sits at the crossroads of the Butte Valley Wildlife Refuge, which makes MacDoel Shell a convenient stop for gas and postage.
Customers are able to purchase Forever Stamps, drop off prepaid mail and packages and pick up free Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and envelopes. The convenience for customers is that many VPOs offer expanded business hours, including Sundays and holidays.
VPOs are located within existing communities in a variety of locations, including convenience stores, local businesses and libraries, and are operated by the management of those locations.
Post Office Operations Manager Tina Hopkins and Postmaster Karen Doyle-Watkins will join Chase in the grand opening ceremony.
