PASADENA, CA ― The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is proposing the relocation of Jackie Robinson Station Post Office, 1100 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, to 1355 N. Mentor Avenue, Pasadena CA 91104.

If the move to this location is approved, there would be no change to Post Office Box numbers or ZIP Codes and retail lobby hours and services provided would remain the same. The locations are 1.4 miles apart.

Public input on this proposed relocation is welcome. Postal Service representatives will be available to discuss plans and receive feedback on Thursday, October 23, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Jackie Robinson Center Auditorium, Room 400, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Avenue.

Written comments are also being accepted through November 17, 2014. Please submit written comments to:

The reason behind this proposal is the national realignment of USPS infrastructure in order to reduce expenses, generate revenue and operate more efficiently. The Postal Service has experienced net losses the past seven consecutive years and is in a very serious financial situation. Every opportunity is being considered in order to maintain universal service to the nation.

If this relocation is approved and completed, USPS plans to sell the facility at 1100 N. Fair Oaks Avenue (that is too large for operational needs) to generate much needed revenue. The facility at 1355 N. Mentor Avenue is USPS-owned, right-sized and currently vacant.

USPS does not receive tax dollars for its operations or facilities, but covers costs solely through the revenue received from the sale of its products and services.
