Henry De La Torre to be Sworn in as Dinuba Postmaster

DINUBA CA — On Friday, October 24, 2014, Henry De La Torre will follow a proud tradition of being sworn in as a Postmaster. De La Torre will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Dinuba Postmaster at an 11:30 a.m. ceremony at the Dinuba Post Office, 222 S. K Street, Dinuba CA 93618. Manager of Post Office Operations Neil Gonzalez will administer the oath of office.

De La Torre began his postal career as a city carrier Woodward Park Station in Fresno in 1991. He was  promoted to supervisor of customer services at Woodward Park in 1997. In 2004, he was promoted to manager of customer services at Hughes Station in Fresno and later transfered to Cardwell Station in the same position and served as delivery supervisor at the Selma and Clovis post offices from 2011 to 2013. In preparation to eventually become a Postmaster, De La Torre served as Officer-in-Charge of the Clovis Post Office. Prior to his selection as the Dinuba Postmaster, he served as the Coarsegold Postmaster.

De La Torre believes that a Postmaster, as well as his employees, must be visible in the community. “I believe the Post Office plays a major role in the community,” said De La Torre. “We can contribute to the community by providing the best customer service possible.“

De La Torre, 50,  enjoys traveling, camping, barbequing for friends and family, and participating in his children’s activities. He and his wife, Michelle, are the parents of four children, Alyssa, 22, Krista, 18, Kaitlyn, 15, Niko, 12. They reside in Fresno.

De La Torre has a BA from Fresno State University. He is a member of the Fresno Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is the president of branch 274 of the National Association of Postal Supervisors (NAPS). He is an active volunteer at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Valley Children’s Hospital and dedicates his time at Tree Fresno and the Special Olympics.

As Dinuba Postmaster, De La Torre oversees 20 employees who process and deliver a daily volume of 25,000 pieces to 8,604 delivery points (addresses) on seven city routes and five rural routes, and to 1,021 Post Office boxes.
