Mike Hoffman to be Sworn in as Woodland Postmaster

Sunday deliveries through Christmas to help handle projected 470 million packages

WOODLAND, CA — On Thursday, November 20, 2014, Mike Hoffman will follow a proud tradition of being sworn in as a Postmaster. Hoffman will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Woodland Postmaster at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Woodland Post Office, 720 Court St, Woodland, CA 95695. Manager of Post Office Operations Al Valdivia will administer the oath of office.

Hoffman has 22 years of federal service, 19 with the Postal Service. Hoffman began his postal career as a city carrier at the Airport Station in Oakland in 1995. He transferred to the Arcata CA Post Office and was promoted to supervisor of customer services at the same office. He transferred to Palm Desert and worked as a supervisor at the Palm Springs and Indio post offices. He was promoted to manager of customer service at the Fort Sutter Station in Sacramento, and was the Applegate Postmaster prior to his selection as the Woodland Postmaster.

“As a Postmaster, I will provide the best quality product for my customers and establish workplace relationships that foster an achievement culture,” said Hoffman.

Hoffman, 40, enjoys traveling and participating in sports with his six sons, Mark, Nolan, Nico, Aaron, Zehner and Mike Jr. He volunteers his time with the River City High School boys’ basketball program. He resides in West Sacramento.

Hoffman plans to meet and establish a relationship with local businesses to improve the postal brand and help customers reach their goals through effective marketing via the USPS.

As Woodland Postmaster, Hoffman oversees 81 employees who process and deliver a daily volume of more than 95,000 pieces to 23,389 delivery points (addresses) on 40 city and rural routes and to 2,451 Post Office boxes.
