Susan Skidmore to be Sworn in as Auburn Postmaster

AUBURN, CA — On Friday, November 21, 2014, Susan Skidmore will follow a proud tradition that dates back to 1853, when J F Bailey first took office as the first Auburn Postmaster. Skidmore will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Auburn Postmaster at a 9:30 a.m. ceremony at the Auburn Post Office, 371 Nevada Street, Auburn, CA 95603. Sacramento District Manager Barbara Plunkett will administer the oath of office.

Skidmore began her postal career as a city carrier in 1984. She was promoted to supervisor, customer service in 1987 and in 1992 was promoted as a station manager in Sacramento. Her first stint as a Postmaster was at Citrus Heights, where she served as Postmaster from 1999 to 2001. She became part of the Sacramento District staff as the Manager of Operations Programs Support and as the Manager of Post Office Operations from 2001 to 2008. She served as the Elk Grove Postmaster prior to her selection as the Auburn Postmaster.

“I am proud to be the Postmaster in Auburn, and I will focus my attention on providing world class service in delivery and retail operations,” said Skidmore.

Skidmore, 52, enjoys gardening, travel and spending time with friends and family. She has a son, Matthew. 26, and a daughter, Kristina, 23.

As Auburn Postmaster, Skidmore oversees 73 employees who process and deliver a daily volume of more than 300,000 pieces to 21,255 delivery points (addresses) on 18 city and 16 rural routes and to 3,150 Post Office boxes.
