AUBURN, CA — Now when customers come in to the Fine Girl Clothing boutique for clothing, handmade jewelry, and crocheted scarves, they can be fitted with postage and package services.

On Friday, November 21, 2014, at 10:30 AM, customers will be treated to a grand opening ceremony by store owner Brandy Ladner and postal officials as Fine Girl Clothing becomes a Village Post Office (VPO).

Ladner is excited to have her boutique store become a VPO. She looks forward to her partnership with the United States Postal Service and being able to provide postal products and services to her select boutique clientele.

Operating out of a store front is nothing new in Auburn, long known as the “jumping off” spot for gold miners. Auburn retains the oldest operating Post Office which opened its doors as a Post Office in a general store in 1852.

Customers are able to purchase Forever Stamps, drop off prepaid mail and packages and pick up Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and envelopes.  The convenience for customers is that many VPOs offer expanded business hours, including Sundays and holidays.

Village Post Offices are normally located in non-Postal Service establishments — such as an existing community business, grocery stores and gas stations — and are run by someone other than an employee of the Postal Service.

Ladner will join Sacramento District Manager Barbara Plunkett and Auburn Postmaster Sue Skidmore, who is set to take her official oath of office as the new Auburn Postmaster on Friday, November 21, and will help cut the ribbon in her first official capacity as Postmaster.
