TRACY, CA — Mi Pueblo in Tracy will now have Forever Stamps and package services to make the shopping experience for customers of Hispanic food and groceries more complete. Whether it’s fresh meats, produce, seafood or baked goods, customers can now add postage to the list when they come in to the Mi Pueblo store at 3225 N, Tracy Blvd., Tracy, CA 95602.
On Thursday, November 20, 2014, at 10:00 AM, customers will be treated to a grand opening ceremony by CEO Juvenal Chavez and postal officials as the market becomes a Village Post Office (VPO), the first ever in a Hispanic-owned grocery chain.
Chavez is excited to have the first VPO in his Mi Pueblo Tracy store. He believes providing Forever stamps and Priority Flat Rate postage will add another needed service for his customers and the entire community. VPO Mi Pueblo enhances the USPS presence in the community, especially where people shop, with hours and days of operation that are convenient for customers.
Customers are able to purchase Forever Stamps, drop off prepaid mail and packages and pick up Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and envelopes. The convenience for customers is that many VPOs offer expanded business hours, including Sundays and holidays.
Village Post Offices are normally located in non-Postal Service establishments — such as an existing community business, grocery stores and gas stations — and are run by someone other than an employee of the Postal Service.
Mi Pueblo is a family-owned grocery chain, headquartered in San Jose, CA. There are 21 store locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Central Valley and Monterey Bay.
Chavez will join Sacramento District Manager Barbara Plunkett and Tracy Postmaster Joe Tualla in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
