REDDING, CA — On Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, Jamie Biskner will follow a proud tradition that dates back to 1872, when Chauncey C. Bush first took office as the first Redding Postmaster. Biskner will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Redding Postmaster at a 10:00 a.m. ceremony at the Redding Post Office, 2323 Churn Creek Road, Redding, CA 96049. Post Office Operations Manager Tina Hopkins will administer the oath of office.
Biskner began his U.S. Postal Service career as a temporary mail handler in 1989 and became a part-time clerk in 1995. He graduated from the Associate Supervisor Program in 1999, and in 2002 was selected as the Yreka Postmaster. He was promoted as the Manager of Post Office Operations in 2011, the position he held prior to being selected as the Redding Postmaster.
“Being the Postmaster of Redding has always been a goal from the beginning of my career,” said Biskner. “Serving the community of Redding and providing the best possible mail service will be my focus.”
Biskner, 44, is a family man who enjoys spending time with his wife, Kallie, daughter Jessica, 20, and sons Cameron, 17, and Tobyn, 12. They reside in Redding. He is a 1988 graduate of Shasta High School in Redding, and graduated from the USPS Managerial Leadership Program, and is Lean Six Sigma certified.
As Redding Postmaster, Biskner oversees 199 employees who process and deliver daily volume of more than 120,000 pieces of mail to 54,814 delivery points (addresses) on 62 city and rural routes and to 6,000 Post Office Boxes.
