Hopkins began her Postal Service career in October 1993 as substitute rural carrier in Yuma, AZ. In 1994, she became a part-time city carrier, eventually becoming a full-time carrier. She was promoted to customer services supervisor in 1997, and resigned from the Postal Service in 1998 to move to Missouri.

She couldn’t stay away and was reinstated as a clerk in 1999. Knowing her calling was in management, she earned a promotion to supervisor and then customer services manager in Joplin, MO. In 2012, she became the postmaster of Monett, MO.

Driving the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to Seattle on a vacation trip in 2007, Hopkins and her fiancé at the time chose Eureka as the place to get married. Now they are thrilled about this move to Eureka. Hopkins plans on being involved in the community both as a resident and the postmaster. She has four children and seven grandchildren.

Hopkins is responsible for 142 employees and oversees four Post Office stations in Eureka. There are 42 delivery routes, which service 22,294 business and residential deliveries and 4,309 P.O. Boxes.
