Background:

The U.S. Postal Service has opened a new Mega Passport Office at the former Long Beach Processing and Distribution Center, located at 2300 Redondo Avenue in Long Beach. This new unit is separate from the retail lobby where customers buy stamps and ship packages, and has additional staffing and expanded hours to make it easy and convenient for customers to apply for a U.S. passport.

There is no appointment required! Walk-in hours at the Long Beach Mega Passport Office are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.

The Postal Service has the products and services needed to submit a new passport application. Passport photo service is available onsite for an additional fee of $15. Expedited processing is also available, including Priority Mail Express delivery of the passport, with tracking and insurance.

The U.S. Department of State issued 13.5 million passports and passport cards last year. It’s best to apply for your passport early, at least several months before a planned trip. To obtain additional information, fees for passports and passport cards, application forms and to check current processing times visit  http://travel.state.gov or www.usps.com/passport
