The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is processing and delivering over 553 million cards, letters and packages every day during this holiday season. Here’s a great B-roll and photo opportunity providing an inside peek at how USPS utilizes high tech equipment and systems to efficiently move so much mail everyday. This will be the only time media will be granted access into a Los Angeles-area mail processing plant during this busy holiday season. |

Santa Clarita Processing & Distribution Center Enter facility through Gate 2 and proceed to Business Mail Entry Unit customer parking. For personal safety, no open-toe shoes or sandals may be worn in the facility. Please no scarves or loose clothing. |

Background: |
On an average day, USPS processes 523 million cards, letters and packages. During the holiday period, that volume increases to 553 million each day. Our busiest mailing day this holiday season will be Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. We expect to process over 640 million cards, letters and packages that day. Package volume is projected to increase 12 percent over last year’s holiday season, to about 470 million packages delivered between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. |
