LONG BEACH, CA — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is opening a public input process on the relocation of Bixby Station, 4580 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach, after being forced to vacate the property by the landlord. Plans are to find a new location for retail and Post Office Box services as close to the old location as possible.

A public meeting will be held on Feb. 25, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at the Long Beach Expo Art Center, 4320 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach CA 90807. Written comments are also being accepted through March 25, 2015, and can be submitted to:

This public input process for a Post Office relocation follows Title 39 Code of Federal Regulations 241.4 and assures increased opportunities for local officials and the public to express their views and have them considered prior to any final decision.

A temporary emergency relocation of Post Office Box service was made on Feb. 17 to North Long Beach Station, 101 E. Market Street, 1.3 miles away. This move is a short-term solution to provide uninterrupted service while a search for a permanent location takes place. Post Office Box numbers and ZIP Codes will not change.

Letter carrier delivery operations currently located at Bixby Station for the 90807 ZIP Code have relocated to GMF Station at 2300 Redondo Ave. There will be no impact to mail delivery and this move will be transparent to customers.
