LA JOLLA —  The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will be moving the La Jolla Carrier Annex operations and employees into the University City Carrier Annex located at 5045 Shoreham Place effective July 25, 2015.

The relocation of carrier operations will not impact mail delivery and service will continue as normal. However, after July 25, certified or registered mail and packages for which a mail carrier left notice requesting pickup and/or signature and vacation hold mail will be made available at the La Jolla Main Post Office located at 1140 Wall Street.

The landlord of the La Jolla Carrier Annex informed the Postal Service that the property will be sold. The new owner plans to demolish the building and build a new structure on the site.  USPS operations will not be accommodated in the new development and must relocate to alternate quarters.

Demolition of the La Jolla Carrier Annex will begin on Aug. 1, 2015. All USPS operations must be completely removed from the La Jolla Carrier Annex no later than the end of lease date of July 31, 2015.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
