MENDOTA, CA – On Friday, June 26, 2015, Scott Warkentin will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Warkentin will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Mendota Postmaster at a noon ceremony at the Mendota Post Office, 655 Oller Street, Mendota, CA 93640. Post Office Operations Manager Kimi Lonjin will administer the official oath of office.

Warkentin began his U.S. Postal Service career in May 1995 as a temporary letter carrier in Fresno, CA. In June 2013, he began his management career supervising carriers and clerks in Sanger, CA.

“Becoming a postmaster is a dream that began with my father who retired from a career with USPS management,” Warkentin said. “Once I began to realize I had an aptitude for management, I began to aspire to reach the level of postmaster. This truly is a dream come true.”

Warkentin enjoys hiking, fishing, camping and woodworking. He is married to Vanetta and he has two children, Kirri Joy and Austin. His mother and father Jim and Ann are proud of his achievement.

As Mendota Postmaster, Warkentin oversees 2,772 city and rural daily mail deliveries and 1,528 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes.
