SAN LEANDRO, CA — On Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at 10:00 am, Katrina Scott-Vance will follow a tradition that dates back to 1937 when Michael E. Neish became the first Postmaster of San Leandro. Scott-Vance will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new San Leandro Postmaster at the San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro, CA 94577.
Scott-Vance started her U.S. Postal Service career in 1998 as a letter carrier in Oakland, CA. She carries on a family tradition started by her parents who were Postal Service employees. Scott-Vance began her managerial career as an acting supervisor soon after she completed the USPS Associate Supervisors Program. This was followed by higher-level managerial assignments in Berkeley and as customer services manager at the Laurel Post Office in Oakland.
“As the new San Leandro Postmaster, it is an honor and privilege to be appointed to this important and civic position,” said Scott-Vance. “I am passionate about striving for excellence and committed to the needs of all Postal customers. I want my customers to know that the United States Postal Services is the best place to do business.”
Scott-Vance and her husband, Stephen Sr, live in Hayward, CA. They have four children, Stephen Jr., 21, and daughters, Danay, 29, Stephanique, 24, and Siera, 16, and three grandchildren, Antoine, 11, Jada-Milan, 2 1/2 months, and Maliyah, 2 months.
Scott-Vance is a graduate of Mc Clymonds High School in Oakland. She has a BA degree in Sociology from California State University, Hayward and an MA in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She volunteers with youth activities in the community, helping them make career choices for their future. She enjoys reading, traveling, dancing, and family time.
As San Leandro Postmaster, Scott-Vance manages all operations at the San Leandro Main Post Office, South San Leandro Station, Estudillo Station, and Washington Manor Station, with a total of 106 carrier delivery routes and 52,382 delivery points (residential business addresses) and 1,686 PO Boxes. She manages 188 employees who process and deliver a daily average of 103,935 pieces of mail.
Oscar Munoz, manager of Post Office Operations, will administer the official oath of office. Scott-Vance replaces Dina Flotte who was promoted to the Hayward Post Office.
