OAKLAND, CA — The Bay-Valley District of the U.S. Postal Service needs people, and to make it easy for applicants to navigate the www.usps.com/employment online application process, two how-to workshops will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, in two locations.
In the East Bay, Postal Service hiring personnel will hold a workshop from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Oakland Processing & Distribution Center, 1675 7th Street, Oakland, CA 94615.
In the South Bay, the workshop will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the San Jose Processing & Distribution Center, 1750 Lundy Avenue, San Jose, CA 95101
Applicants will be shown how to navigate online at www.usps.com/employment and search for job openings. The Postal Service has a need for Automotive Technicians, Casual Mail Handlers, City Carrier Assistants, Mail Handler Assistants, Postal Support Employees, Rural Carrier Associates, and Tractor-Trailer Operators.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, or 16 years of age with a high school diploma. Applicants must be able to pass drug screening, criminal background and any other applicable Postal Service test.
“The Postal Service is a great place to work,” said Florencia Aceituno, the Bay Valley District Human Resources manager. “This is a tremendous opportunity to experience a job that is very challenging and rewarding.”
Entry to the Oakland Processing & Distribution Center is through the security guard check point.
Entry to the San Jose Processing & Distribution Center is through the employee entrance on Hostetter Street. There is a buzzer at the parking gate. Someone will open the gate when buzzed. After parking, approach the Employee Entrance and wait to be escorted into the building.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
