SAN FRANCISCO, CA — USPS has announced retail service at Post Offices nationwide, including those in the San Francisco postal district, will be open for business Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24; however, many will shorten their hours and close at noon. Regular mail delivery, pickups from the blue collection boxes and PO Box service will not be affected by these changes.

All Post Offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 25. Only Priority Express Mail will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in most major metropolitan areas. Post Offices will resume regular hours on the Saturday Dec. 26, 2015.

Customers can go to usps.com, quick tools, Post Office location, key in City and State to see if their local post office will close early by going to: https://tools.usps.com/go/POLocatorAction!input.action.  Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. Commercial business customers should check with their Bulk Mail Entry Units for information regarding holiday hours.

Postal customers have other options when it comes to transacting postal business. Self-Service Kiosks (SSK) are in most Post Office lobbies with 24-hour access. SSKs handle most postal transactions, like postage and shipping services that normally require counter service. For quick and easy transactions, the SSK accepts debit and credit cards, no cash. The touch screen machines are easy to use and are available 24 hours a day.

Customers have many alternate locations to buy postage at most grocery and drug stores where people shop, and postal transactions are provided at many Contract Postal Units (CPU’s) and Staples counters.

For ultimate convenience, you can shop from home by logging onto usps.com to buy stamps-by-mail or call 1-800 stamp24. The Post Office will also come to you if you desire Carrier Pick-up, using Click N Ship for alternate shipping.
